2002-05-28 - 4:17 p.m.|Boogie fever I was looking through someone's diary for the Friday Five, cause I felt like updating by just answering a bunch of questions. Then I remembered its Tuesday. Every night is Friday night to me. Cause I'm happy and free. So I got this idea to interview myself. Don't know how this'll turn out, but... **************************************** Q: When did you first get into dancing? A: There was a brief attempt to have me take lessons at age 2, but I'm told all would do in class was cry and say I wanted to go home and watch the Flintstones. Also I ran like a football player and not a ballerina. So I tried again the next year and kept on doing it, oh, up until I started dating in high school. Q: How do you feel about Saturday's performances? A: I just want to keep smiling, or at least keep my mouth closed and not hanging open in concentration. I want to stay in rhythm or at best get all the steps. The brain will just shut off and the feet will take over. I hope neither of the ladies I'm twirling around steps on my toe, and I expect everything will be fine. As long as I don't go bowling and drinking this week and hurt my ankle. Q: Did you notice you listed all the negative possibilities? A: It was supposed to be funny. Q: Oh. That's weird, it didn't sound funny. What's the most embarassing thing that ever happened during a recital? A: Well, when I was in the fifth grade, the ribbon holding up the bodice of my costume broke on stage and I had to dance offstage holding it up so the teacher could tie it back together. But the audience thought it was part of the dance cause I didn't act like anything was wrong, I just danced very calmly on my toes right offstage. Q: Any other recital memories from the past? A: Once year we were doing "Singin in the Rain" for tap, and we had these fake flimsy white umbrellas. Mine broke right before the number. A friend of mine, who is no longer with us, offered to trade with me her non-broken umbrella because she was in the back and I was in the front of the stage. She was always doing stuff like that. And she was one of those kids who, well, to say the other kids made fun of her was putting it mildly. But she was always nice and acted like she didn't even notice. Then when she passed everyone was like, wow, we should've been nicer to her. If I've told that story before and forgotten about it, I'm sorry. Q:How do you feel right now, as you while away the seconds before your first full practice? A:Bom bom bom bom bom bom I feel free.....
