2002-02-08 - 1:27 a.m.|I'm a little drama queen short and stout like cream

I just got done watching Velvet Goldmine for the first time. I had to go to three different stores to get it. I even ended up paying my late fee at Bleeechbuster cause they were the ones that had it. And I'd just like to say a personal fuck ya to each and every person who didn't tell me this is the sexiest, most backlit, smoke filled, seventies film hazed rock and roll movie with a naked Ewan McGregor ever made.

Johnathan Rhys-Meyers' blue hair/blue makeup, Christian Bale's smooth voice, the anticipation for his personal part of the story and the payoff (although I could have done his makeup better) oh mi god I thought the movie would never end. And that kiss! Also I'm glad to learn it was boys who wore glitter eye makeup first.

I have no context for this musically. I'd heard that the film existed and that it was only for fans of glam rock. I'd only heard the Lou Reed and T Rex songs before, but I was happy to see during the credits (which were also pretty) that the actors did their own singing. I don't know if the songs recorded when the movie came out were covers or just made to sound old. They did sound like songs from that era, what I've heard. One was by Shudder to Think. I only like their music that they've done for soundtracks. And none of it sounds alike.

Now I guess I'm gonna do some research. And I'm gonna try to find this movie to buy. Its so fucking gorgeous I have to watch it over and over, and wonder why it didn't bring back glam.
