When I decided to return to my hometown to live I knew some deputy official from the Department of the Obvious would eventually comment on my weight gain. (From a 10 to a 14 in 10 years.) So I'd prepared a retort. Them: "Damn, you got fat!" Me: "Yeah, but you're still stupid." Wouldn't you know it, not one but two people have informed me that I got fat. Wouldn't you also know it, my retort was useless because both of them are, shall we say, gentlemen with mental retardation. I'm not speaking figuratively, either. Well, that's what I get for planning to be clever.
