2001-12-06 - 11:54 p.m.|Guest Writers' Week Continues My best friend wrote this poem as part of a rant about why people who aren't good writers shouldn't write poetry in their personal ads. "Spaceman" Spaceman! Where have you gone, Spaceman? Why have you departed so suddenly In your little ship From the dirty ashtray that is my soul? Your love was fleeting Like gossamer threads fastened carelessly Between two single-wide trailers In a tornado. I shall rebuild the trailer park Of our love! What was once a park of single-wides Will be transmogrified into True community of double-wides. The centrally-heated mobile homes Will be the warm wombs That will create the placenta That will nourish our love's return. Nevermore! Nevermore! NEVERMORE!!!
